Transmission Service
Stay in Control of Your Vehicle
For you to truly enjoy your driving experience, you need a fully functioning transmission system guiding your vehicle. The transmission is the reason why you’re able to move forward and backward.
Does Your Transmission Need Service?
One of the worst things that can happen to your vehicle is when the transmission completely fails. Not only are you stuck with a malfunctioning vehicle, but you’ll also be slammed with an expensive repair bill. No driver wants that for their vehicle, and the best way to avoid that is to understand the signs of transmission failure. By knowing the signs, you’ll be able to prevent a small issue from building into a big problem. Here are two things to look for when you want to determine the health and quality of your vehicle’s transmission system.
Check The Fluid (If your auto has a dipstick)
When inspecting your transmission fluid (you can do this by utilizing the dipstick found in your vehicle), you want to pay attention to the quality and level of the fluid. Normally, transmission fluid takes on a reddish, translucent appearance and has a sweet, tart smell to it. This indicates that the fluid is still good to use. If the fluid looks brown, thick, and has a burnt smell, it will need to be replaced. This is typically done through a fluid change or flush, which can be properly performed by one of our technicians.
As for the level of the fluid, it should be at “full” or close to it. If not, you’ll need to have more fluid added and check for any leaks, as transmission fluid never gets consumed or burnt up. When looking for a leak, make sure to check the ground underneath your vehicle as the fluid will typically leak there.
Poor Movement
When transitioning from one gear to another, it should be a smooth and seamless transition. You should never encounter a situation where you feel a hitch, delay, or slippage in one of the gears. If you do, that’s a sign of transmission trouble. These situations will vary based on the type of transmission your vehicle has. For automatic drivers, these instances occur when you’re shifting from “Park” to “Drive” and vice versa. For manual drivers, the symptoms occur anytime you shift gears. It can be both frustrating and dangerous to drive with a poor moving transmission system, so make sure you visit our facility as soon as you can.
